Some time ago I, rather a fan of OBC album "Jane Eyre" with James Barbour, wondered, whether videos of this musical can be got. Being such a fan of James Barbour's voice I hadn't any idea of how he looked like! A search on Youtube wasn't really prolific: there are but few videos, and most of them are video clips from famous movies with JE OBC as soundtrack. Other ones were terribly short and had bad quality. However, I finally managed to pick out two of them worth posting here. The first one is the song "Sirens", a Jane and Rochester duet - that's the taking from the performance. Unfortunately the picture and the sound are a bit non-synchronic. The second video is the song "Secret Soul", the major part of it is sung by Jane, but there's also Rochester in the end - so you can get an idea how Barbour looks like. That's some open-air Broadway concert. I should say, that Barbour is more handsome in his Rochester makeup - though probably not everybody would agree...

You know, there also exists a rather rare concept recording of this musical with James Barbour, Kate Shindle and Rob Evan. In general I prefer the Graz one, but this also has a number af advantages. Here are some songs from it - I am very interested in your opinion. Yeah, yeah, I already know that you are going to say 'German-language is always better than English-language and Hungarian is stil better, as it's still more exotic' ;)

http://www.sendspace.com/file/5fpvd2 - 'A Perfect Life'; solo concept version. I find Kate Shindle's voice a bit harsh, but there's definitely something touching in it. Sunset, I'd be pleased to learn your opinion of it. I guess you'll find her considerably better than Liechty.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/xztxcn - 'Loving You Keeps Me Alive', also solo concept version. I just adore this song, although Dracula appears so much OOC in it...

http://www.sendspace.com/file/s6cqx3 - 'Fresh Blood' - I still think that Borchert is better, but I like this guy as well.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/lta9al - 'Finale' - so far, I think this is the BEST version of the ending. (Yeah, that means I like it better here than in Graz version)

Some nice Youtube member has made many really nice clips to these songs - from such movies as 'Pride and Prejudice', 'The Phantom of the Opera', 'Jane Eyre', 'Dracula 2000', etc. I appreciate her work really much.

This is the song 'Loving you keeps me alive', for instance

Other clips:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YASddkTN5Ds - Please Don't Make Me Love You
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OscsIrWuFw8 - LIfe After Life
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QJYITdk3Big - At Last
And there are still much more - even several for 'The Scarlet Pimpernel'.

Especially for [livejournal.com profile] soldaja: if you connection allows you, I'd recommend you 'A Perfect Life' and 'Loving You Keeps Me Alive'; as for other songs - as you wish. The clips are all very, very nice - at least you are sure to love those using clips from 19th century dramas. And - yeah, you know Barbour, he is Mr. Rochester in Broadway recording of "Jane Eyre".
And don't even think you'll escape me loading you with all these CDs as soon as you arrive in Kyiv! I don't want to be the only one Borchert's fangirl at our university...

*all this actually written – or started to be written – at 1:28 AM*

As it turned out that I have an insomnia (this is the third hour of it!) I’ve decided to fulfil a wish and post the lyrics of ‘Roseanne’ (or what they look like when only listened to). This time – Vanity, thy name is woman! – I’ve even decided to try translating them into both English and Russian. This song is considerably easier, still there is a number of unclear places. That’s to say nothing of my terrible punctuation. Will be grateful for any corrections.

For topic ‘outsiders’ or ‘half-outsiders’: this is a solo song of Van Helsing – non-existent in any other version of this musical (written especially for Kröger, yeah). It isn’t connected in any way to any events in Stoker’s novel or in any of its adaptations.

P.P.S. And I still had an hour more of insomnia... Had to listen to 'O tyle proszę Cię' (Polish 'All I Ask of You') for several times as a medicine, but it didn't work as quickly as I'd wished. However, it is always pleasant to hear repeated words like 'Kocham cię' in your ears...

Many people have already noticed that the new Graz album of the musical ‘Dracula’ “really devours the brain”. I am no exception. Thomas Borchert, ah!... (many more sighs and kisses) How does he utter this or that phrase with his deep voice, now cruel and cynical – and now tender and loving… Now I really wish to have his solo album. Uwe Kröger ist “Hämmer”, as always – only he in the role of van Helsing could defeat such a Dracula as Borchert. All others are also quite nice, especially Carolin Vasicek… But now closer to the topic.
As it turned out in [livejournal.com profile] chantfleuri’s journal that there are no German lyrics for it in the net, I decided to try taking down the words while listening to the songs. I put in square brackets [] both pasages in which I have the slightest doubt and the passages in which I don't understand anything. As I can grasp only several phrases, I hope that other people might find out the real spelling of several others. Brainstorming usually brings fantastic results! And then someone may pick up another song…

Be careful! The content below may damage your brain!

My humble efforts. Also, my efforts to translate that into Russian with funny and not so funny comments. )

UPD: Made necessary changes. Also added photos. None of the photos is new; still there should be something to illustrate the whole story.

Finally I learnt all the words of 'Totale Finsternis' in Hungarian - that is, 'Teljes a sötét'. Well, frankly speaking, I took from the very beginning but a short - concert - version of it, including only the second part. But that's still a great deal, isn't it?
Teljes a sötét - the lyrics )

Now I do have a brand new song with so many funny and nice syllables to sing while washing la vaisselle or the mirror in the bathroom. Still, as a disadvantage, the words haunt me! Anytime when I am not speaking to someone - and so hold by my own thoughts I would be repeating 'Hallom azt a hangot, ami hív!' or 'És nincs, nincs többé, nincs, mi véd'... Can anything be done for this?
