Hungarian Journal - 7

Decided to post another entry from my dear paper journal. As before, along with several photos. This time the post's very short. And as before, very stupid, pretty personal (though surely not That kind of personal for me to keep it locked). This one's about my decent meal and our arrival to Pannonhalma (I'll tell about the Abbey later, but put all the photos already here)

I’ve just taken a seat in a nice restaurant in the marvellous town Eger. This is my last day in Hungary. I have a opportunity to write for a while, as I’m waiting for my Transylvanian mixed meat (full name of the dish: ‘Transylvanian mixed meat on a wooden plate (roasted pork chop, chicken breast fillet, turkey breast fillet, fried bacon, fried sausage) with salad and French fries’). I have a little less than two hours to dine and to buy extra souvenirs (I need more marzipans, for example). Then we are going to taste Eger wines in Valley of a Beautiful Woman. Before midnight we’ll be in Ukraine.
My dinner in Eger.

And what starving Sashaleft of it...

17.07.07.
Another additional tour – ‘Pannonia’s towns’ took place that day. Pannonia, that’s an ancient name of the main region in Hungary. I had a good possibility to make notes before the bus left – before 9 AM. *However funny this may be, there’s no trace of garlic in my Transylvanian meat. But how delicious it is!* We took highway M1 from Budapest, and there – alas! – somewhere ahead a great car wreck took place (something with lorries). The result was a traffic jam for many kilometres. We spent hours in that congestion, I made use of it and made further notes. We also watched a movie on the bus record-player, ‘Mousework’. I enjoyed much the style of the movie (I mean the costumes, the interiors, the architecture, the colour spectrum) – but I didn’t like the plot. Hate such cruel so-called ‘comedies’. I was terribly sorry for the elder brother and the beautiful historical house. At least they managed to attach a rather artificial happy-end!
We arrived to our first stop, Pannonhalma, a Benedictine archabbey after noon – more than two hours late. At least I had enough water with me, and policemen along the highway were dispensing bottles of water for those not so provident…
