Gróf Andrássy Gyula - portraits

While prepairing an essay to be read in public in our German class about "Our favourite prominent person in history" - it's easy to guess whom I chose at once! - I collected quite a number of pictures portraing Gyula Andrássy senior. (Actually, I was looking for those anyway, for I am soooo interested in his personality...)
At first there was only that famous Gyula Benczúr's painting and several engravings, which made me very suspicious - What, no photos at the age of rapidly developing photography? (Carrie would understand me, I hope;-) Finally, however, I found a number of photos as well, which ruined such a gothic hypothesis...

I should also say that though I write in most places dates, I can't be 100% sure about them. You know, Google may lie, Wiki may lie - if some Hungarian-language sites contain only precise facts, I may misunderstand them (with my almost non-existent level of Hungarian, hehe) So if you know something certain about any pictures of these - especially about dates - then I'd be glad to learn that and correct the errors.

Anyway, let us begin with that most famous portrait by Benczúr. Dated 1884 - so the man on the picture is 61 years old.

The engravings first:

Dated 1861

Dated 1871 (and my personal favourite)

Portrait by Bertalan Székely, dated 1872

For the following two portraits don't know the artist's name
This one is dated 1875

And, finally, the photos:
Around 1860

Two photos of around 1880s

And all the other photos

Commemorative placard with the participants of Three Emperors’ Meeting in Berlin

This particular one reminds me of our adorable "Borchert in that strange hat":))))

Thank you so much!

I'm especially in love with the last picture... I guess, I'll swap it with the one in the post!

Yaaay, thank you for uploading all these photos, I'm deliriously happy to see them :D I'm also interested in Andrassy, though I still don't know much about him - only some short information I got from all Elisabeth- and Franz Joseph-related stuff, but I'm going to do some research when I'll have some more free time. Andrassy seems to be a fascinating person :)

Oh, thank you - that's so nice when there are people who're also interested in what you're doing! I am absolutely in love with Andrássy - especially ever since I decided for my character to fall in love with him on that RPG about Ludwig II's court.
Btw, I'm going to write an article about him putting together all the information givan on various sites (you know, German, French, English and Hungarian Wikipedias give various facts) - to make such a full picture as possible. Don't know when I'll do that, though... but that would be interesting work (for one, did you know that he became a freemason during his exile in Paris - and so was a freemason to the end of his life?)

That's an interesting way of getting interested in perticular character :D I started to gather more information about Andrassy when I've read about him in Birgitte Hamann's "Reluctant Empress", these rumors about him having love affair with Elisabeth were interesting (although I don't believe them - or rather: probably they were in love with each other, but it couldn't be more than platonic love ;) ).
Unfortunately I can't find much about him in polish book, and when I find - these aren't very positive, polish historians seem not to like him much (because at the beggining he promised politicians from Galicja to help them gain more authonomy in Austria-Hungary, but he resigned from this when Prussia opposed that). So I will be very interested in reading your article, it'll certeinly won't be easy to do this for you, but I'm looking forward to reading it!
And no, I didn't know that he was a freemason, that's really make me want to get more info about Andrassy :D
